yeah, they arent that fast, but the neighboring school district has 56k on 50 computer lan system (their highschool that is), so, feel sorry for them. ___________________ "I am a band geek. I just never joined the band." Oh.. whoa... speechless after hearing about 56k. Speaking of 56k, I hate hearing about all of these commercials that still try to advertise dialup. Its pointless. ___________________
G4 dual 1.25 gig, 1 gig ram, 17 - 24" cinema dispay... all with Jaguar. All loaded with any program you would ever need That explains the 15,000 a year I am paying Our school just got some new Dell's... I believe that they've got 2.4GHz processors and 256mb of RAM (Win2k, though... stupid school system...) ___________________ A drunkard gets used to the sight of his dead grandmother crawling up his leg with a knife in her teeth. Our school has a bunch of old P133 and P266 comps with like, 32mb of RAM on WinNT Although in our new tech block we've got about 20 1.3GHz with Win2k ___________________ The library has Dells with PIIIs, of various speeds, and like 3 P4s All the teachers have Dell, PIII 400 MHz and 128 MB RAM, and 4 GB hard drives. Of course we get the crap ones in the programming lab These all have Windows 98. And restrictions on EVERYTHING. (The prog lab computers don't have any restrictions, but they're not on the school network either, so no internet on those) EDIT: I forgot some. The music lab has 10 eMacs The lab for the classes like Media Productions and all the video stuff has a bunch of G5s EDIT2: Wow, I forgot more There's also a CAD lab I think, but I've never been there. We have a T1, but all of the above are on it at the same time, so it's slow Wow, I didn't realize how much our school has until I typed it out :/ ___________________ Come to #linux on IRC: tc.tutorialnetwork.org! Last edited by Teruthar, April 18th, 2004 12:47 AM (Edited 1 times) My high school has many different kinds of computers: Library: "Gifted" learning room: Language lab: General computer lab: Publications lab: All these computers have been horribly abused by the students. Most of them run much slower than my home computer (PII 400 w/ 384 MiB RAM w/ WinXP Pro and SuSE GNU/Linux 9) because of the idiot students and administrators. Of course, any attempt to "clean" the computers requires that I bypass the restrictions placed on the computers, which is some sort of horrible offense (much like the DMCA and copying a disc for backup purposes for one's own legal use). ___________________ iMacs, an eMac or two, the principal and ISS teachers have Dells, and around 4 or 5 G3s. No one knows how to use a computer. In the computer lab there's a billboard thing that says, "Geek talk" on the top and it's got words like byte and upload and stuff on it. ___________________
