so how do I color the thing??
Ok guys,
So I was looking at some of my old friend Andy's vectors and decided I wanted to brush off some of my art skills and try and do a "vector"... Anyway So I opened up my demo version of Illustrator and just decided to trace my picture with the line tools (I have no idea if this is the traditional way to do a vector, I didn't look at any tutorials or anything). So I've got it traced pretty well I think but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to color it. So if any of you guys could give me instructions on what the easiest and most efficient way to color my "art" would be, I would really appreciate it.
So heres what I have done so far...
and thanks for looking.

A vector is meant to be created using the 'pen' tool. So just outline your image with the pen tool again, and then add on top of it, and keep stacking layers to give it color and shading. A vector image can be resized without losing quality, but a raster image (brush / line tool) loses quality when resized. Hope this helps

In illustrator, on the left should be two boxes, one will be an box with a hole in the middle, change the colour for the outline colour of the path, the other box is the fill colour of the path, change that to suit your needs too...

Here are some tuts on how to color it in photoshop. These are not just plain old tuts, cause the man's an artistical genius.
Also some illustrator tuts, but not on coloring there (however you should check them out).

EDIT: damn I also remeber a super great tut on how to color images (was comic book like). It was amazing too but I can't find it anymore. Will search for it some more later.

awesome thanks for all the info guys, I think I'm going to try and color this thing in photoshop and then see where it goes from there. I think I'm going to do another picture soon and try doing it using the pen tool instead of the line tool.
