new Gmail

I've heard that Google is finally going to compete with yahoo and MSN in the free email industry and they are allowing 1 gb of space! I heard it was supposed to come out 3/31/04 but apparently it hasn't come out yet. Does anyone know when Gmail will be available to the public?

1 GIG? Wow, that's alot. Kinda hard to believe. I mean, a gig is 1024 Megabytes. Yahoo! offers 4 Megabytes, 1020 less than this would offer. And MSN offers 2 Megabyes, 1022 less than this would offer. I'm sure they'd offer a good bit of space, but a gig is overkill for Email. Serious overkil...

gmail.com is registered to google inc. and it forwards you to gmail.google.com... as of now i believe it.

Thats really interesting... At first, I was thinking that 1 gig of space isn't too much because of how I can so easily get it on my hard drive, but then I think about my web server, and realize that I have less then a a gig on my web server and then I am like, "wow".
