Vector?

I am new to this forum, but, still... How is Fireworks Vector-based? As far as I know, Fireworks is as vector-based as photoshop is. (Which is to say, not much, if at all.)

Fireworks blows chunks. It's worse than Illustrator in user-friendliness.

I think you guys are confusing the purpose of the tool.

If you want to chop a tree down, you don't pick up a shovel and start whacking away. And if you do, when it doesn't work very well, you shouldn't throw it down and say "man, that shovel sucks!"

But that shovel will dig a damn fine hole.

Fireworks is not your general all purpose image program. For image editing, stick with photoshop. For illustration, stick with illustartor or freehand.

But, if you want to make super-clean web graphics in just a few steps then fireworks is THE tool.

It's well worth learning. Just don't confuse the purpose.

If I want to make a comlex shape for some sort of web graphic, I fire up Freehand, make the path and then paste into Fireworks and work magic.

As far as web-graphics goes, Fireworks beats PS hands down. Especially when it comes to compression! You take the same image and compress them in each program, Fireworks will give a smaller size and higher quality EVERY TIME.

I used to make my web graphics in PS, but when Fireworks came out I learned it. My life has been sooo much easier since.

This image was created in Fireworks in a few steps:
