Setting Up Web Host
Hi All,
I want to set up a web server and I'm not sure how to do it. At first I want to use it for personal use but in the future I may want to start seling web space commercially. I have a UNIX box, a Linux Machine and a Windows 2000 Server machine. I'd like to use the UNIX box but if Win 2000 or Linux is better I suppose I could use that. I've had basic experience with Apache/MySQL/PHP on a home network (win 2000 and Linux but not UNIX) for a while now and want to try something new. Could anyone point me in the direction of helpful advice/a nice tutorial/a good book on the subject? Anything would be helpful! Thanks!

- Do you have cable?
- Do you have a hardware firewall (NOT SOFTWARE)
If you have both of these you are good.

Yeah I have cable but not a hardware firewall. Will get one though if required!

Dras you dont need a hardware firewall, software does work you know, even if it's not as good.
There have been plenty of previous threads with the same topic as this that you may want to search for... i have responded to a few in quite some detail along with others so they are sure to help you out
Chris
