i'd say keep your hypocritical comments to yourself but then i'd be the hypocrite
besides any 'educated responsible person' doesn't need a substance. not to mention we have about 30 million other serious things to worry about in the world other than this.

how is anything i said hypocritical? really i want to know.
besides any 'educated responsible person' doesn't need a substance.
where did you graduate from? obviously it must have been a really good medical school since you know so much about what people do and don't need.
not to mention we have about 30 million other serious things to worry about in the world other than this.
exactly so stop worrying about what other people are doing on their own time, and pay attention to something more important.

grow up.
Thomas Jefferson grew fields of hemp. The native american's used all sorts of psychadelic drugs. America was practically built on drugs, but someday someone just like jadedchron decided they knew what's best for everyone else. Take a look at amsterdam's crime rate! WASP's have some fear for people under the influence. Why? have you seen someone stoned? they don't turn into some blood thirsty psycho...no, they turn into a pizza eating couch potato for a few hours. god forbid anyone eat to much, we should start making laws about eating past 8PM, for the safety of the nation! :shakes head: this is such bull**** i can't believe i have to even have this conversation.

I used to smoke alot and drink and do just about everydrug that would wig you out. But i quit for these reasons
1. All i could think about was getting high/drunk
2. Wasnt gettting very much done.
3. The people i was doing this with wherent the greatest.
4. I was so tired of it all
5. Felt like i was wasting my life away.
But i still drink everyonce inawhile like every 3 months or so for special occations. But dont get hammered. Buzzed at the most.
I would say the only reason i dont smoke anymore is becuase its illegal and i found myself only doing that all the time.
But if it became legal i would prob tok up everyonce in awhile just to realax and realese stress. But i will never go back to the way i was.

adam_bomb i do find it humorous how you try and justify the effects of weed. basically you're saying it doesn't produce murderers but it produces lazy ignorant kids - and well we all know we need more of that.
this is a debate forum. stop telling people to stop debating.
btw. you don't need a degree to have common sense.
the day you provide a reason we NEED dope then I'll submit until then I'd suggest not telling someone older than you to grow up

just remember what happened during prohibition. people made their own alcohol. use skyrocketed.
and, why are you even looking at what the effects are? if you really wanted to get high, you'd get high. white out anyone? someone else made this following point already: if you're going to ban one harmful substance, then you need to ban guns, cars, and whiteout etc.
what i meant by who are you to say we can't destroy our livers. this is a free country (im assuming we;re all arguing over teh us, i know i am. we're all free to destroy our bodies if we want to. when the government starts trying to control what we do to our body, thats when it starts becoming oppressive. we'd wind up like the afganis.
also, look at the tax dollars used to enforce drug regulation. that money can be spent to educate the kids against drugs. because thats whats going to influence whether or not they do drugs.

bleh. i'm so tired of that ban one ban all. this isn't the musketeers. you can't flip a switch and have every billion dollar industry roll on it's back.
why would anyone, with a healthy mind, want to destroy their bodies? that's obviously ignorant. people need mental stability before you add a substance to an already unstable mind.
prohibition is outdated.

Exactly. Its their fault. Not the governments. Its illegal now, its still used. The majority of the people who use it don't know its long term effects and the like. So why is it even illegal? Why should tax payers pay for the ignorance of others? Law enforcement and jails and the like. Why don't we use that tax money toward education so people are taught not to desire drugs. But in the mean time, cold blooded killers can go free while someone who smoked pot is being tried adn going to jail. Nothing like jailing someone for being dumb
wouldn't that be a better way to go?

I personally think bad of anyone who has to use a drug to relieve stress, to relieve tension, or anything of the sort.
There are many ways to have fun, to relieve stress, or to waste time than substance abuse. While pot may not be damaging, and campaigns against it may be harsh and untruthful, take in mind a few facts.
America is ruled by the upper and partly, the uppermiddle class. These are your SUV driving soccermom families. They DONT want their kids on it. Who pays the most taxes? They do. The govn't pleases those that pay it the most. Soccermoms hate pot? The govn't hates pot. Its simple.
Pot does alter your perception, much like alcohol and other drugs. If pot was legalized, it should be illegal to consume in a public area. You might say, "alcohol and smoking are legal in public." Cigarettes may cause damage, but walking through a crowd of pot smokers and getting a buzz is different from walking through a crowd of smokers and getting a headache or having to cough.
Thomas Jefferson? No wonder you choose him, it fits how you want the government to approach this topic. Hands off right? Let the public make their own decisions right?
And for the person who said they were able to complete their dead-end job on pot, good for you. Some people have jobs that require thinking.
I guess what I'm trying to say is this, the people that pay the most in taxes control the governments opinions on most things, such as the war on drugs and the war on terror. Oh, and your pathetic if you need something to alter your perception on the world to take a load off or have fun.
