I think people are so excited over it because it has some great action sequences, a plot that makes you think, and since the first one was so groundbreaking, the expectations are high for this one as well. You being tired of action movies is your own personal preference. I, for one enjoy most action movies whether they have a good plot or not. Take the transporter, for example. Bad plot, bad acting, but I still really liked it because of the action.

I haven't seen it here, but other places... people complaining because Matrix Reloaded is doing so well at the box office.

I don't see any point in complaining about that. This is the kind of movie that pays for a majority of the rest of the movies made by that studio. Considering a good majority of movies actually flop and don't make back nearly what was put into it. So these big blockbusters cover their asses.

Someone gave me some figures once, a average studio puts out like 20 films a year. 15 of those flop and lose money. 4 of those pay for themselves. 1 makes enough money to pay for itself, and pay for those that flopped.

Anyways, I'm actually curious to see this movie, heh... just to see what all the hype is about.

And I still wanna write something that could be as popular as it one day. But everything I write so far has been low budget comedy that'd never make much money.

some of the effects and action sequences in the matrix are amazing, the storyline is pretty kool, which is always an added bonus,

but it is hard to explain what is so amazing about it, you have to see the new one, and the first oen to appreciate it.

I didn't complain about how much the movie made. When movies are making such huge amounts of money constantly making a little bit more than the last really isn't a big deal.

I've seen the first one and the story line was good especially for an action movie, but like i said before it isn't really about the story. I just don't understand how people, after they have seen this, can go on talking about it for days on end, buy all the poor quality merchandise at stupidly high prices.

This isn't just about the matrix as i said in the original post. This happened with LOTR and the new Star Wars movies. In fact this can also go along with boy bands too. The extreme fans of something that is pretty good but not worth all of the hype.

By the sounds of the hype from the first one and the new one you'd expect enlightenment or something equivilant. I used the matrix as an example because there were already three threads on the first page about it...

People are so into it because of the intricate plot line and the emaazing effects. That is why I went to see it. All because of the effects, etc.

I would have thought story and plot are the most important things in a movie, then amazing effects etc. can be branched off of that.

I've always been of the slightly insane opinion that movies are a glimpse into the universal unconscious - the dreams the masses pay to dream. In that, I almost inevitably see a popular movie simply because of the portents it yields - I saw Titanic three times, and it wasn't cuz the storyline was intriguing, cuz dreamy Leo can act, or the unswathed bosom. It was because this thing was grotesquely popular, and I needed to know precisely /why/.

And having direly deviated from anything resembling a point, I'll randomly switch paths again. I liked the second one. The action was interesting, although some spots it got blurry - dunno if that was the movie or projector, but the CGI was making my head spin more in the sickened sense than the amazed for a bit. The plot, however, was vastly improved from the first, although I still dire of the skin-deep love plot. I'm still not sure what that's doing in there - the fights and chases appeals to action fans, the cgi and plot to scifi fans.... I guess I don't see too many Catherine Coulter fans going to the Matrix to get some more romance. Plus, honestly, it's crap - it doesn't feel right or real. No catharsis at all.

btw, missomnis - matinees. Cheaper and far fewer people.
