ok, keep in mind i like it, and am on hyper-critical mode because its good, here are some points......
5) Black and white are VERY contrasting, which is good for readability, but generally better when its black text on a white background, not the other way round, maybe you could try making the content area background either a dark or light shade of grey, then the text the opposite (ie. dark grey bg and white text or light grey bg and black text)
.........
Yeah I completely agree -- the contrast is way too much, go with white or a lighter shade in the middle, or make your page background a darker shade, not white.
I was seeing some small white lines that went horizontally across the border of your interface at the top & bottom of the page -- looks like an image didn't load or not lined up, etc.
There is dead space at the top margin (30 pix or so)- I say close that up & make the interface almost touch the edge.

I dunno why I'm adding to this thread as I've watched it grow over MSN and heard your ultra polite version of cursing trying to get it compliant..
It has a lovely pro look to it, invokes an immediate feeling that ya know what your doing, will be a nice home for the work you do at college and knowing you as a person.. I think it reflects Mr Ramsay rather well..

5, for the code. if you have done that from absolute scratch thats amazing. everything is brilliant except for maybe the black background, im not sure how it would look with any other background.
maybe a dark grey would look better, but then again it might contact the actual main graphic(s). well i wont tell you how it could be improved since its your site. and at the minute i would say im incapable of making a site like that.
it works excellent in my res (1152x768 or something)
loads pretty quick (ntl 600k from UK) largely due to preloading i would imagine =)
and overall is very nice. Let us know what sort ideas you have for it because its a brilliant peice of work.
oh and the top graphic looks a bit "lumpy" i dont know if thats accurate or thats the way its suppose to be lol =)

If you look where the shadows run into the content area, it seems a little funky and blurry because its the same color... I would work on that a little... maybe its just me. Anyways... other than that I think its a very clean and sweet layout! Peace!
Fixed, Drop shadow now at a 120 degree angle, instead of 90 like before. This however made me redo the entire slice map on the page though pretty much
Hehe oh well it does look better now.

I do think you should consider a slightly lighter background for the content area (currently black). Maybe its because the screen I'm using right now is a tad on the bright side (though as I understand it, that's pretty common really... I'm much too used to my ultra shaweet viewsonic haha). So in essense, the extremes between the white and black seem to be a bit "too much" to me.
Also fixed, this is the biggest change now. Content areas (basically wherever there is text) now has it's own rounded "grey section" ... how's that look? This was a ***** to do especially with lining stuff up, but tell me what y'all think anyways. I think it did the trick ...
TizThanks, yes it all is from absolute scratch. Took two months from start to finish though :-\
Everyone else, thanks for the comments and suggestions. I'm not done yet though, the link to the testing page below of course is just temporary to see the visual changes, once all those are done than I'll get to cleaning up the coding and validating it all again.
Please let me know what you think of the new changes, and what else to think about ... other than the res, Im thinking about that as well, and I will also try again with the jaggies at the top, though thats gonna be a ***** heh. Keep 'em coming!

Reminds me of an iPod for some reason....
But I give you a big 5 for the validater. Here I am trying to make a site that all can view, and you make a validater. Being a big Opera fan I salute you (even though it supports just about everything)

Ok the site is down right now, RamsayGraphix.com is no longer, except for redirecting to my new domain until the contract runs out. RamsayStudios.ca is the new domain, which has a splash page but thats it so far. When I've got all the new changes in, I'll post a new thread about it since its a whole new domain. Thanks for the comments again.
