sounds like you have a corrupt font in your font folder.
Have you installed new fonts recently?

Maybe your computer doesn't have enough room for PS7 OR you have too many fonts.

Please do not ask for PS files that should be on your PS CD !!!
Just reinstall PS if you are missing a file.

Are you maybe opening PS from a shortcut you created? I ask because I had a similar problem when using a taskbar shortcut to open PS. When I open the prog from within the Adobe folder in Program Files, it never crashes. Using a shortcut it does .... go figure
Just thought maybe that was worth mentioning just in case it helps

Disable the Multiprocessor Support plug-in.
Note: Disabling the Multiprocessor Support plug-in prevents Photoshop from using more than one processor, so some functions may run slower.
To disable the Multiprocessor Support plug-in in Windows:
1. Exit from Photoshop.
2. In Windows Explorer, open the Program Files/Adobe/Photoshop 6.0/Plug-Ins/Adobe Photoshop Only/Extensions folder.
3. Rename the MultiProcessor Support.8BX plug-in to "MultiProcessor Support.old."
4. Restart Photoshop.
To disable the Multiprocessor Support plug-in in Mac OS:
1. Exit from Photoshop.
2. Drag the Multiprocessor Support plug-in from the Adobe Photoshop 6.0: Plug-Ins: Adobe Photoshop Only: Extensions folder to the desktop.
3. Restart Photoshop.
If the file is not there then you have deleted the plug in, and PS is looking for it. so i will look for the file, if none if available, uninstall photoshop, go to c:programs files/adobe/aobe 7.0 and delete the entire ps folder after u unistall, then reinstall it,
that will fix the problem. try the first one first
