Pixelated Shading in Photoshop/Illustrator

Hi,

If i create a box with a smooth gradient shading in photoshop and then I do a mezzotint where it becomes all dotted. Is this vector ? Because it is pixelated black/white when you look at it in 100% then when you zoom in it also looks pixelated so would you say this is vector ?

I need to do rough shading for a logo, and it needs to be able to look okay when zoomed in. If I do the above, I can't see how there would be a problem because it's dotted at 100% anyways,

what does everyone think ?
