pick up colin moocks, actionscript: the definitive guide. I would also consider looking at the foundation flash books by friends of ed. happy hunting..

The previously mentioned book is the bomb...definite must have!
You will still need to practice and quite possibly consult other books, people, and resources..however, it is the most comprehensive coverage of actionscript i have found
