Shadow Techniques

Can anybody direct me to a tutorial on the shadow effects this guy has:

I am referring to the ones on the side of the main content (to the left of "Professional", to the right of "Kolibri CMS").

It's just a mish-mash of layer styles. I personally see a gradient overlay (white - black - white), inner glow (black for that ring) and an outer glow (for that soft light gray shadow). Perhaps another gentle drop shadow, too. Then add an arrow and give it a short, dark outer glow.

Tinker around some in Photoshop & get better acquainted with layer styles. Specifically, tweak the Color, Opacity, Size and Spread. You'll begin to spot them everywhere and decompose them in your head too
