From one member to another...
Hey folks! Its been a while since Ive been active in this community. Its probably a fact for just about anyone here. I always thought of myself as a loyal member. Up until it seemed like the community went haywire.
BUT, It was wrong for me to leave.
I joined the community when I was 13 years old. Now, Im 19. I have grown and developed into a talented designer (self-proclaimed
) and Im looking to give back to the community that has done so much for me.
I know so many of you (who are still active, if there are any) are continually loyal to Neverside. And I applaud you, whoever you are. However, seeing the web transition into Web 2.0, and design standards drastically changing, I thought maybe it's time for a new community of designers/scripters/artists-alike. And with that being said, Ive decided that maybe creating a new community would be in my best interests, and maybe yours.
I believe in a core of designers being active in a community revolutionizes the industry as a whole. It lets us all collaborate with each other, helping us develop ourselves towards the right direction. And with the web going 2.0 (if it isn't already?), It's probably best for us all to conform (in lack of a better phrase).
I recently registered http://www.thrivestyle.us. The original plan was to be make it my personal portfolio. But, for some reason, the catchy and meaningful name of ThriveStyle should be used for a more broader audience. Instead, Im going to go with http://www.vburgh.com as my personal portfolio. And what will happen with thrivestyle.us? Hmm...
I want to make ThriveStyle into a community of artists; whether it be graphics artists, audio producers, painters, what have you. Maybe go along the path that Neverside went with, but with a few differences. And if I can establish a hard-working and devoted crew to help bring the dream alive, I can see nothing but success.
I like personal portfolios.
I like forums.
I like the whole sense of community and collaborations.
I like free-promotion for members.
I like that you have taken the time to read this. And hopefully, all of you, or at least, some of you have considered what I have said and feel the same way. So, down to the bottom line, I extend my hand to all of you, and invite you to become part of something that can be great. I'm not saying let's abandon Neverside, but let's flourish off of it. Neverside has and always will be our mentor, but as the web changes, so do we.
Let's make ThriveStyle a reality.
I have the skills to do so. But I want and need help also.
