Photoshop glow effect help?

I am trying to create a glow effect on the bottom of my image. I was wondering how to create something like this

http://www.progressiveone.com/

Also, to create a poster in Photoshop that has to be 8.8x11 is that inches? And is PDI resolution?

8.8 x 11 sounds pretty close to 8.5 x 11 inches, which is standard letter size. So I'd think inches, yes. I'm not familiar with PDI, but DPI does refer to resolution (dots per inch).

Your glow effects looks like a gradient to me. I used three of them (one white to transparent, two black to transparent) set on different layers. Basically, select the Gradient tool, then the Radial (circular-looking) tool, and drew one. Then I shrunk it down to give it perspective of being a cast light source (control+t). Then I added two black gradients to serve as the cast shadows, and transformed them as well.

I think the key to getting this effect to look more realistic will be tinkering with the gradient settings. I used the default settings, but play with the opacity and color sliders to make the gradient a little less smooth and gentle.

PSD attached, give it a whirl. Good luck!
