If you were there when he first started "coming into power" you would have seen how everything started to shift in his favor. We are bashing him because he was always the serious type, in which we believe he was the newly acquired dictator. ___________________ STG2 (SW) in the United States Navy
Opinions are opinions. Making a long story short, I started out developing TC for TF. As a tutorial database that good-tutorials, pixel2life, etc. do so well nowadays. Not going to say I didn't make mistakes, but I didn't make them alone either. We thought what we were doing would be good, and it turns out that wasn't so. There was a lot of problems along the way that I will gladly accept responsibility for as it was my oversight and therefore my problem. Anywho, whether you hate me or not, what I did wasn't easy and wasn't in the interest of destroying anything. It was hard to manage what we were doing with all of the different timezones. Either way, end of story, I made a mistake and I've posted it probably a thousand times. Come on though, you could insult me all day, it doesn't matter. Take care guys! P.S. As to why I got 'power' as you all seem to label it as. I volunteered to manage the server's software and maintenance, as well as fix up vBulletin back in the day with what Dave wanted to be adjusted, fixed or added. Dave was busy with music school and so forth, so I felt I was helping out the site along with hopefully taking it to the next level. I merely met him through here and he still remains one of my good friends. ___________________ The Audoptic Weblog. It's where the magic happens. I had been coming here long before I'd ever even heard of Locke, and I registered on the forums before him as well. All of a sudden he came out of nowhere, was given complete control of the site, ruled the forums with an iron-fist allowing no-fun, and that's when I left (I was a Super Moderator at the time, but we no longer had power since Locke reversed your changes if he didn't agree, and he never agreed). He was the beginning of the end of TF. His poor management during the whole TF/Neverside thing is what killed it. So what if they didn't pick it up after he left Neverside sitting here dying. Neverside was already shot and wounded, bleeding to death. He took a thriving forum and left a dying one. They didn't have a lot to work with. Personally I think TF looked and worked better than this site, it's a real shame he destroyed it, and don't fool yourself, he did. EDIT 1: And as he says above he didn't do this on purpose, I never believed Locke did this on purpose. That doesn't change the fact that he still did it, regardless of intent. I really hated how no one had any power anymore because he was the ultimate authority on everything, including warning members, etc. He basically made all other moderators pointless because our opinions meant nothing. EDIT 2: I tried to check out the venture that you left Neverside for, and your Audoptic link is dead. Is that Neverside the sequel? ___________________ Last edited by ShadowXOR, December 3rd, 2007 07:18 PM (Edited 3 times)
I don't necessarily want to get into this with you, post what you want but you were not around for most of that. I was not the ultimate authority and any decision made almost always went through Dave and never before being presented before the staff. That's all I have left to say on the matter, I take responsibility for it being the way it is and Dave is working at correcting it and making it the way it should have been. This site was heavily busy with just as many if not more onboard. What killed it was the lack of development moving forward and my frustration with being unable to fix it. I can admit when I cannot do something, and this place being the 'death' by my fault alone, while not entirely true, I was overseeing it so it is ultimately. That's all I really have to say. Later buddy!
Nope, but thanks for the unnecessary comments. ___________________ The Audoptic Weblog. It's where the magic happens. You also edited and "Locked" posts constantly. I was around so you're either thinking of someone else or confused. I remember it very well. TF was the only major forum I visited and I didn't really want to leave but I felt that I didn't want to be part of such a strict regime. The ironic thing was that they never upheld bans and constantly lifted them which frustrated me because the same people would get banned over and over. Yet you were so strict about locking, editing, and moderating. A lot of "jokes" would get people in trouble and it felt very claustrophobic. EDIT: We never even "got into it" or argued between each other to the best of my knowledge. I tried avoiding you period. That's the thing that was the worst part, I didn't even need to interact with you for the forum to feel unwelcoming and I'd been there for many years. ___________________ Last edited by ShadowXOR, December 3rd, 2007 07:28 PM (Edited 2 times) lol, ok. You made your point. I'm sorry, ok? I never meant for anyone to feel like that and I do apologize sincerely. Mistakes are mistakes and I made a lot back in those days. ___________________
___________________ Yes, opinions are opinions...but if you are in high status, the opinions mean more. I believe that was your major downfall, Locke. Of course, I was a bit wild back then...just as everyone else. It gave me more of a reason to go to the boards. Not only to joke around, but also learn new tricks in web design...and I can confidently say TF was the most resourceful site I had seen on the internet at that time. When the forums started to get heated, I started to look into other forums to become apart of. Though none had the qualities I appreciated as much like TF had, I still went to them because I had a belief that you had no hesitation whatsoever to lock a thread, warn a member, or fling your 2 cents in only to disrupt the flow of what was being discussed. I appreciate the fact that you are now apologizing, in the open, member to member, in a good fashion. It is something that I least expected to find in you back in the old website. ___________________ STG2 (SW) in the United States Navy
