Which one for graphics work? Not video or anything, just art.

I got the 17" Macbook Pro with the hi-res/anti-glare screen and I couldn't be happier. The smaller Macbooks are just kind of annoyingly small.

Same here - though mine was pre-HD-res (though the res is already the highest I've ever used). Definitely anti-glare matte screen - I can't really stand the glossy screens on any computer (all the reflections give me a headache, and though they have more "punchy" color saturation which consumers like - it's not as accurate to the true colors, which is bad for design... e.g. I'd be shocked to ever see glossy versions of the Cinema displays come out, though I guess you never know - I didn't see the glossy-screens-only on the new iMacs coming).

I haven't tried the higher res 17", but my brother has a 15" with the LED backlight, and I think it's clearly better than my screen with the standard backlight... mine can take a few minutes to fully warm up after coming back from sleep, and also has some minor variations in the evenness of the backlight. Might just be mine - haven't seen any others to compare with besides in the Apple store.

Lastly, if it's your primary screen, you can never have enough work area haha.... the standard MacBook's screen is much too small for serious design in my opinion (you'd definitely need a second screen). I went with the 17" as my primary screen, but if I were to do it again, I think I'd go with 15" plus a cinema display.

Cool Smile I hope they add: quick swappable hard drive access (as is available on the standard MacBook and most PC laptops)... better use of free space on the 17" to add something useful, e.g. a number pad, innovative new touch technology (hehe), or something... lots of empty space on the 17". They probably won't, but I wish they'd change the lid design to be a little more secure so I can feel safer carrying it around while the system is sleeping, not worrying that the screen might pop open and wake the computer while it's in my backpack - has never happened, but I worry haha. My old thinkpad would take a hammer to open without purposely sliding the switch to open the lid. I wouldn't mind some kind of dock connector on the bottom either Smile I also wish I could literally disable the glowing light on the screen-opening button while the system is sleeping... at night that bugger is Bright! Tongue Oh and... one more thing. I've discovered that the thin strip of metal sitting right parallel with the space-bar side of the keyboard is actually painted silver, not the actual silver of the metal the rest of the system is made of. Since I use keyboard shortcuts like mad, I've found that the paint begins to wear in those tiny spots. So I wish they'd use non-painted metal in that spot.
