Signature Guidelines

nix the feature list. Iron out the bugs, advertise and post on other message boards with a convenient link to neverside in your signature, or refer them to posts here that answer their questions. IRC channels, friends in class. Make people start coming here, but don't infuriate them with trolling and shitty bugs.

Gotta perfect what you got first. Then expand.

If anything, I think assigning an active member to each forum to post and liven it up, or consolidate down forums so the thing looks more active would be a big help.

And what are we going to promote to newcomers to NS?

Think about it realistically. NS is dead. A person coming for the first time is going to just see a broken studio and a forum in the corner nearly dead on a respirator.

There are probably 10-20 active users compared to hundreds that were.

This current community really doesn't have anything to offer that other sites with more dedicated owners are doing now.

I love NS but come on guys...

- fix the studio
- reactivate the forum

the first is a bit more tricky as it requires coder input. I'd be willing to help. The second I would say the best bet is to just start posting the hell out of the forums. Start new conversations, pay attention to the 'we need help' section.

also, to help that out, I would say definitely consolidate down some of the forums. No need for granular division.

Sometimes I'm tempted to just switch NS to the unfinished Drupal site (so eh, things actually work for a change) and finish the details later (user galleries, detailed content submission workflows, etc). I can add the functionality a lot easier than I can fix NeverAPI (over the last year I've learned some PHP, but not enough to figure NS's code out unfortunately). On the other hand, at this point, I know Drupal very well and know how to do most of the things I wanted to do for NS that I didn't know at first. I'll need to code the layout first (there's a new layout version that only a few people have seen yet - much better than what I posted a while back). And lastly, I'll need to import NS's data - will likely have to hire a coder to help with that. At this point I was hoping Drupal 6 would come out in time since it's almost here (as it would fix a lot of theming issues and performance) though it may take too long... never know though they're making fast progress on it.

Hmmm will think about exactly what this would take to pull off. What do you guys think? Might be the "iterative change" that we need to get this done

Edit:: sidenote... Drupal just won the Best Overall Open Source CMS 2007 award today. Nice
