I would suggest the MacBook Pro if you like the notion of using OS X, otherwise get Windows, which you (and this is an assumption) are probably more familiar with. OS X takes some time to get used to, but if you are looking into a career involving any sort of digital media, whether it be audio or photography or web design, you will certainly get your money's worth. Remember that you can run Windows on Macs now too.
Also take into account the types of things that won't work on your Mac. A lot of games don't run on Macs... If that is what you're into.
My next computer will be a MacBook Pro, or whatever the latest Mac is at the time of my purchase.

As far as I know, Bootcamp only supports Windows, though there are certainly ways of installing Linux on a Mac.

As long as the distribution has all drivers for the laptop, you should be able to install it with Boot Camp and have it run just fine. Lots of people have installed Ubuntu with Boot Camp.
Edit: I found a triple booting with Boot Camp tutorial.

Ok so Ive made up my mind, im definitely gonna go with the macbook pro 15", Ive just got one question, ive heard of some sort of pad-anti heat type device that fits between your laptop and your lap, so that when it gets extremely hot it doesn't fry your nuts, any of you know of anything of this sort?
