Need to know the name of this effect?

Anybody know the name of this effect? If not how would I go about creating this into an action for PSCS2 or PSCS3?

It's just a layer mask. Layer -> Add Vector Mask. From there I'd pick up the Rounded Rectangle Tool with a radius of maybe 5px. Up in the toolbar select the middle button (Paths) and get drawing.

The good thing about drawing them as paths is that you can copy and paste the same square for consistency, line them up, etc. Complete one row and copy and paste that to speed up your process.

Sounds like it'd be a ***** to make into an Action :P

Or use Pentacom's rounded corner filter.

Thank you for the link, but the rounded corner filter does not work in CS3.

Oh, that sucks. Why not use CS2, then? I assumed you had it because of what you said in your first post.
You could use the marquee tool SMOOTH command and smooth to the desired pixel amount.
