Hey, Iv'e decided to revamp my website and go with a whole new look and feel as well as a new domain name, the old one just got really...old..

It works just fine in firefox, and with limited success in ie7. Ie6 is a mystery as i can't view it since i installed ie7. I don't know about opera or safari.

Current issues that i am aware of.

Bottom footer graphic looks wierd whenever a header opens. - This happens because when saved i didn't save it with transparency and instead saved it with the background still in it, and when it moves they don't match up as well as they could. The problem here is that i have drop shadows, and layer styles that where i to save with transparency and the background out of it, would make it look really worse. And as you can't really tell theres a problem unless you open a header and are looking at it, its a minor problem.

Messes up in IE7 - this is a problem and a big one for me, While the content and the overall look remains accessible the spacing in IE is messed up making things look extended and placed farther then they should be.

Headers are all contracted - This is more of a visual appeal issue then a technical one, bu the fix is giving me headaches, the way the script works is by using display:none and to make the content drop down when you click on a header it sets it to display:block i think. Now to over ride that and make a header visible on load your supposed to manually set it to display:block, However when i do this it shows up and then immediately hides when done loading.

Loading times - I have noticed that the loading times are a bit long and perhaps longer then i would have liked. but with all the content loading on one page i think its ok.

Alot of code - There is a lot of code. At 92 lines of HTML and 313 lines of CSS the files are a bit bigger in size then would normally have been for this type of website, but it shouldn't be a problem.

Well i think thats it for all the errors and things i know about, So let me know what you think, and if you know how to fix the errors or at least point me in the direction needed to do it myself. Please feel free to be honest and give me a critique, that is after all what i come here for, not an e-peen stroking.

Aside from the pixel typeface "design" next to the the Aurlai logo, I think the site is absolutely gorgeous (in Firefox). I gave it a try in IE6 and find it quite broken... A shame too, I hope you can get all of those issues resolved (not that I'm an IE user mind you, but everybody should be able to see a site that looks that good).

One simple suggestion though... Be a little more professional with your Background Information. Some proper grammar with the pizza and cheese left out would make it look a lot better. The site is just too beautiful to have purposeful grammatical errors and "cheezy" stuff (pardon the pun).

A few questions... Is the font you used for the Aurlai logo a typeface font you found or is it a custom(ized) vector font you made yourself? It sure is appealing. Also, what about all of the vector flowers for the background? Did you make those? They're very well done and well placed regardless.

Your markup could use a bit of work though...

First thanks for your response Smile

Could you perhaps take a screenshot of it in ie6? after i upgraded to ie7 i can't get ie6 to show up anymore.

True, the background information could use some work and i am in the process of re-writing it.

The font is Fleetwood and i found it on dafont.com (im not very good at making fonts at the moment) and the vector flowers came from a stock image that i bought.

Whats wrong with the markup that i could do better? Could you perhaps point out what seems to be the problem on how i coded it? ^.^

In regards to your markup, it's clean looking, but has several errors (12 to be exact) and some semantic problems. I see an <h1> all the way at your news title, and see <h3>'s for your header names. Not only is that backwards in terms of semantics, but there's also no <h2>. I also see a <center> tag - XHTML Srict doesn't like those. XHTML Strict also requires onclick instead on onClick if I remember correctly (all lowercase). Validator

I'll have to see if I can find that font, I really like it.

Alright I fixed the semantics i believe and it now validates. And i also fixed the headers so they appear good in Firefox, Opera, IE7. IE6 however still wants to **** things over. I could do the hotfix for it but im not sure whats causing it to act like that in the first place though.

As for the white blocks on both sides, thats because of the png issue, however ive tried several times to make it so its just a jpg, however the footer is moved up to get rid of dead space caused by the fact that i couldn't slice it close to the bottom because of the mini side vectors. I had the idea to maybe put the content above the footer, while putting the middle repeat below it so that the sides would still show, but i could still have the footer there but that didn't work out well.

On a side note, i had to remove the email form because it wasn't working, and it was causing a lot of the errors when validating. I'm going to try to put another one in soon...

anyways Thanks for the help! if you see anything else, or have any suggestions on how to fix it in ie6 let me know Grin

looks fine in safari.

I dont really like the "design" font.. It just doesnt seem to fit with the rest of the site..

as per your ie6 problem, the cleanest hack that I have found is the !important hack.. Basicaly, after the css declarations that you want ie7, ff, opera and safari to have, you put !important after it, and then re-define it for ie6.

For example,

#divname {
width: 120px !important;
width: 100px;
}

That would give ie7, ff, opera and safari the value 120px for width, while IE6 would continue on and define the width as 100px.

This is the way that I use all the time, it validates, just throws up some warnings about re-defining value's.

If anyone knows any good reason why not to use that hack please let me know!

Wow, I really like that! A lot! I would suggest changing the font of the "design" next to the Aurlai, but other than that, I love the site! It looks great, excellent work. Wink
