Specifically, why doesn't your current system cut it anymore? ___________________ My current setup which was built alittle over 2 years ago, has 767 mb of ram, a 1.46 GHz AMD Athlon XP Pro 1900+, a GeForce 3 Ti 200 with 128 mb ram and 335 gigs of hd space. I'm thinking a new computer is in order, ill probably put this one down stairs for the rest of the family to use, and for farm related activities. The new system will be used for WoW, CS, Video Encoding/Decoding, some other CPU intensive stuff... Maybe 2 gigs of ram, 200+ gigs HD Space, a good video card... ___________________ Lies COOLER MASTER Centurion 5 CAC-T05-WW Black/Silver $967.94 from newegg. if you wanna save alittle cash, cut back on the hdd, and wait for nvidias 8600 to release nextweekish.. and you'll save another 150ish. ___________________ angelessme, antagonising neverside members, staff and administration since 2001. It overclocks much better! lol. my E6400 is running at 2.98Ghz...Oh so sweet. or get better ram ... now that i think about it. With a dual core it's all about having decent ram. It made such a difference over my old generic stuff. As for memory, if you're a hardcore gamer, you might want to invest in some 800mhz ram, to get abit more out of the processor, but frankly, you wont have any problems with the 667mhz at all. However.. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON LOW LATENCY DDR2, alot of benchmarks and testing have shown that super low latency (very expensive ddr2) yeilds a gain in performance thats so low that you may aswell just have smoked the money. ___________________ angelessme, antagonising neverside members, staff and administration since 2001. I dont know too much about overclocking but wouldn't clocking the chip you suggested to 3.2 GHz be a bit much? I don't want it to burn out or anything. ___________________ Lies Theres absolutely no reason to overclock at all if you're not a hardcore gamer or a benchmarking enthusiast, so disregard it. ___________________ angelessme, antagonising neverside members, staff and administration since 2001. Currently I just play WoW and CS, but I do intend to do alot of gaming, Id like to be able to play newer games well too. ___________________ Lies |
