Shiny Circles
Hey everyone,
I was hoping someone could enlighten me on the technique(s) used to create this, and expecially the "shiny" outer edge. I've been playing around with glossy effects, layer options, filters, etc but while I found some new interesting effects I plan to use sometime, nothing I did came close to this.
Thanks in advance!

That looks like more than Layer Effects. More or less, create a new layer and draw a thin crescent shape. Give it some blur and change the layer settings a bit (blending mode to screen or overlay or lighten, and opacity down a bit maybe). Ease some of the edges with a soft brush to taper them off smoothly. That should be a decent start.

Here, I stumbled upon this:

It doesn't give the exact effect you want, but you should be able to apply the same principles to get the end result you want.

You need to work with the colors, you have to find smooth and nice colors so everything looks as a real ball. You need to get the real colors
