Closing Norton Internet Security
To increase performance while playing games, Ive been trying to close Norton Internet Security , but within the program I can't seem to find an option to do that. I can disable it, but not actually close the program. I can't kill the process (CCAPP.exe) directly either, since I get this message: "The operation could not be completed. Access denied."
Preventing the four Symantec processes (CCAPP, CCEVTMGR, CCPROXY and CCSETMGR) from happening at startup with Process Lasso does work, and it did increase performance, but unfortunately doing this seems to result in Firefox being unable to connect (IE still works though) and online games can't connect either. How can I CLOSE NIS? It's a lot like a virus itself... and are there any anti-virus programs that you can recommend, that don't use a large amount of system resources? I did download AVG Free 7.5..
Thankyou in advance!

Try disabling it with MSCONFIG. Disable the startups and try that way. The reason your applications cant access the internet is probably because they have been told to go through a proxy which will be the Norton Firewall. If your just going to leave it disabled why keep it installed. The RAM that you are freeing isn't going to make that much of a difference anyway. I recommened you get avast if you need more ram for your games. Or if you want to free up ram, use RAM IDLE LE.
