Is Photoshop broken?

I'm having a LOT of problems. These aren't errors - they're just differences in how the program works as opposed to how it's supposed to.
Main problem: Layer styles don't work as they should.
I have had this happen a few times. Here is an example:

I applied the inner glow and inner shadow styles from this tutorial:
http://www.absolutecross.com/tutorials/photoshop/interfaces/smooth-metal/
and it didn't match.

I attatched a photo of my two styles each, a photo of the result I got, and the .psd file that it is in.

Ideas?

You have the wrong blend mode set for the Inner Glow. On the tutorial it is set as Normal while yours is set at Screen.
