Big problem...

Windows won't load :
Unmountable boot drive...

To fix :
Boot from Win XP CD.

Won't load from CD :
I'm on an IBM ThinkPad R40 so to get it to load from the CD I need to push the blue 'access IBM button' during startup and then select 'boot from CD'. BIOS won't load...

So, IBM support website :
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-46055
Suppose to update and fix problems with the BIOS. File is a .exe executable which only runs in Windows. Windows won't load. Help.

Help me, I need it badly...

The bios won't load?!

You may find some answers in Ubuntu's forums... try posting a thread or two.

Alternatively, I found some links:

I installed Ubuntu on an old HP Omnibook (700mhz, 128MB ram) only three days ago. It ran slower than Windows XP, and had an overall awkward, clunky feel. I switched back to XP in half an hour, and never looked back really. Perhaps some day I'll look into a different Linux distribution that may be more compliant with my tastes and needs.

Ok, got it.

ringpull's first link did the job ;p
At some point the guy mentions that F1 will allow you to access the BIOS instead of the silly ThinkPad program. And set it to boot from CD before HDD (shouldn't that be default??)

Anyhow, got Win XP pro running now...

My 'ultimate' goal :
10GB NTSC partition for Win XP Pro + programs
10GB ext3 partition for Ubuntu + programs
35GB fat32 partition for files and such

Seem ok?

*ntfs Tongue

Mine is:
15gb (i think) ntfs
10gb ext3
1gb swap (it's like windows pagefile)
and the rest for fat32

some people have it setup like
x amount for windows
x amount for ubuntu
x amount for swap
x amount for /home
x amount for fat32
but i don't know if there are any drawbacks to having your /home on a separate partition.

I tired Ubuntu before, but couldn't get used to it. Maybe ill try again later, but for now I don't have time.

The installation from the Live CD was really easy though. Hope it works for you.
