OuterGlow\Drop Shadow Fade

Hello All,

I have driven my self crazy trying to figure out this what seems to be simple effect. I want to be able to fade a OuterGlow/DropShadow from the chosen colors to blend to the 2 nd color into the bg color. an example is the content box of http://www.fordvehicles.com. any help is appreciated.

Stroke can fade off like you want, but the other two don't have that same functionality.

I would just create a new layer and fill it with a gradient going from white to transparent. Be sure to check 'Transparency' up in the toolbar, I think it's off by default.
