It completely depends on your monitor (and refresh rate), brightness in your room, and trivial things like the frame of your computer screen. I personally enjoy the classic white on blue combination, but it's important to find the correct shade of blue.

i second tool as well, #666 on white is good, or even a bit darker, 444 maybe.. .. should I be ashamed I know what hex of grey I even like?
