Featured Artist?
This kind of goes along with the "Not enough image comments on NS" thread, but I thought it would be cool to incorporate some kind of "Featured artist of the month/week/etc" section. That would probably drive a lot of users into the studio...
What do you think?

Yep that's in my plans for the future version of NS
Definitely will help, and should inspire some to contribute their awe-inspiring work for the chance to get featured haha. The initial release may be essentially the core features we have (improved), but we'll be adding new completely different things asap after that.
Keep the suggestions coming... every bit helps
Thanks.

How will someone be chosen for FA? Will other users nominate users or will staff choose on their own?
[Edit] Thanks for the reply, Dave. It's very reassuring to get an official response.

No problem
To be honest I haven't given that much thought yet... that would be a good area to start collecting ideas from you guys on how that should be implemented. I'm not a complete expert (yet) on Drupal, but at least so far I don't know of a module that could accomplish a user-voted method for that (though there's such a vast amount of info/options I could have just not found it yet). Fortunately, it's my understanding that developing "new" modules for Drupal is very straight-forward, so I have no doubt that whatever we come up with will be possible.
I had a thought today as I was studying and working with the new system.... I'll make a more public request as well, but might as well here too. This may get a bit "rambly" haha so I apologize - just getting some ideas out. It would be very cool if we could gather a number of NS members (or people who'd be interested) who have experience with Drupal to form a kind of "Feedback/Ideas/Development" team for Neverside. Though I'm learning rapidly, there's bound to be plenty of things that could be done that I'm not yet aware of, or features I've found on example sites but don't yet understand the modules or customizations necessary to accomplish them. Having some Drupal-centric support from within the Neverside community would be a great help.
I was also thinking it would be cool to have some of our top programmers here at NS able to contribute to the Drupal module projects we rely on (particularly when it comes to major version upgrade times, since Drupal is so progressive/cutting-edge that user contrib modules often break with new versions). This would help NS of course since we rely on the modules, but also the whole community of Drupal users if we put our weight behind assisting with upgrading the modules we have a vested interest in. To my knowledge there are no other Drupal-based communities besides drupal.org that are quite in our position (e.g. we are a large community of developers on a site that will be Drupal-based, versus most of the large Drupal sites which are for regular internet users).
Anyhow if you or anyone would like to get involved or else invite anyone to get involved, let me know
In my other thread I posted a number of cool Drupal sites to kinda inspire and encourage everyone in my belief that this is the right move for us... I've found quite a few more while researching the possibilities, so here's some to check out haha (everything from MTV UK to Nasa):

Are you thinking of implementing the old "mentor" feature, like in TutorialForums? I joined a few months before the switch to Neverside, so I'm not really familiar with the mentor thing but it seemed pretty cool...

The mentor system was ace.
I think the featured artist would go something like a POTM/W/D, no?
