saving undos with .psd photo
I was wondering if there is a way to carry your history of undoes when you save a .psd file.
for instance, I make a layout and save it with all the history.
when I open this .psd later, the history undos is gone.
I realize I can save history with other methods, but was hoping I could do it this way.
PSCS2
thanks

Found this reply via Google to someone who asked the same question on a different board:

Nope, once closed all History information is gone. History states exist only in RAM or in the temporary scratch file, not ROM. If you need to save work-in-progress, do a file "save as", or "save as copy."
and here's another one:

I think the answer is no to saving all the history states. But you can save all your steps into a text file using the following method.
In PSCS2 you can record all steps taken in the "history log," which can be saved in the file's metadata, as a text file, or both. To activate the feature go to Preferences> General. Select "Detailed" to record precise information about the editing process.
When you want to review the history log, open the text file in your word processor or open the image in Photoshop and go to File> File Info to review the metadata. (If you record to a text file, all images' history logs are added to one text file. If you record to the metadata, you can select the history, copy, switch to a word processing document, paste.)
Hope this helps...
