A facade for the world

This is something that I've been dwelling on for a few days now, sparked by a conversation with a friend. Keep in mind, most of these statements are generalities as I do realize that there are exceptions.

Everyone in the world is a liar. No matter how honest you are (I've not told a lie in who knows how long), you're a liar. Why? Because you put up a facade for the world to see and hide behind it.

Fear of persecution (harassment, ridicule, punishment) causes us to be fake for the world simply so we won't get hurt. Nobody REALLY ever knows you, because there will always be things that you hide. And why not? When you let your guard down, you'll just be taken advantage of anyway. Being fake keeps you from being fed to the wolves of this world. Survival of the fittest... and the best liars.

"You're homeschooled, you don't know how the world is. You're just a naive idiot." This is something that has been told to me by several people, none of whom have shown quality beyond that of brute. Do you ever really feel anything? Do you realize that there is more to the world than electronics, school, and sex? People go through so much in their lives that you'll never realize, simply because you never took the time to care. Why don't you care? It's not so hard, and yet very few people actually care about others. You could save someone's life without even knowing it... if you cared. I know, because a stranger saved my life and I never got the opportunity to thank him. It happens. It's not an uncommon occurence. You can touch the lives of so many people, if only you'd open your mind to feelings and beliefs beyond your own thoughts.

I set myself up for ridicule now by revealing my feelings of the world. Honestly, I think that if people haven't thought about these things before, they definitely should. A careless, unfeeling world is a world that none should like to live in. Why would you want to be treated coldly or fakely?

Just think about it.

It's indeed a harsh, zooming world we live in today. I suspect that in a way or another this was always the case, except that now everything seems to have accelerated way past us. You are a sensible soul, which is growing to be a rarity today. Your honest words are something that we all need to hear, even if unfortunately we cannot put that facade aside for the very reasons you have mentioned.

A fitting book for this discussion would be Fyodor Dostoevsky's The Idiot.

It is true. It is true. I am evil. Some friends and I did not plan on inviting this one girl to our farewell/drinking party today. Then we find out someone that we invited invited her. Oh! How our plans are thwarted for tonight! She is one of those very chatty and impetuous people who invites people to other people's parties. She IMs me at 12:30 last night inquiring about this farewell party. I had to invite her. I couldn't say no. How could I say no? Someone invited her, and it would despirit discombobulate her if I said no. Tonight I must put on my smiling mask and pretend I'm happy to see her. Hopeful a few shots of anything will make me forget the facade I will be putting on to her uninvited face.

I'm sure there are people who yet have to tell or live a lie. If nothing else, at least the newly born.

Since we are being emotional, WHERE WAS THE CAREFACE FROM YOUR SIDE AS YOU BORKED MY HEART BY DATING THAT SLUTBAG BEHIND MY BACK OMFG!!!=!=!*2=!!!½

/me slits and cries

Really though, <3

A facade isn't necessarily a lie.

My best friend is a gay male. He doesn't walk around everyday flaming and announcing that he is gay. He just kinda walks. He's not lying to himself or anyone else for that matter by withholding the information that he is, infact, gay. Now, if someone were to ask him, 'are you gay?' he'd definitely announce, 'hell yeah, sistah!'

I don't think my friend's lack of announcement makes him a liar. It's too much effort to announce everything about yourself everyday. And besides, not everyone wants to know everything. It makes you a liar if you try to be someone you aren't, or if you lie when asked. He doesn't do that though. So does that make Jay a liar?

Definitely not.

And Lydia is a hypocrite. Everyone lies. We lie to prevent feelings from being hurt. We tell stories that are half truths, leaving important details out, so to impress the other person/persons. No I may not know you personally Lydia, but I cannot believe that there is one 100% complete honest person out there, even though I know a lot of people try. I try to be as honost and straight forward as possible, and letting people know how I feel about them, another person, or a certain situation, but sometimes it's hard. Think of so many things that could go wrong if noone told a lie. It makes me paranoid as hell. Imagine our government uncovering all the secrets they hide, imagine other countries known not to have weapons of mass destruction, imagine if you had a child who was 5 years old, and were explained by your spouse the child was not yours by blood. There are so many things I can think of that aren't either meant to be talked about, or you have to lie about, it's not even funny. It's kind of sad really. I lie. I openly admit I do, but I know it's not something to pride myself with just to boost my ego, I do it for personal gain, but not satisfaction. I do believe most people don't get satisfaction from lying. And instead of pointing fingers saying everyone's aliar but me just shows that you are too cowardly to step up and tell people what you really feel because that post seems like you're hiding your deep down true feelings about this whole lying thing. Anywho, I've gotta go to work(not lying).

I freely admit that I lie every day. And damn, I lie well too. Does this make me a bad person? I suppose it all depends on what you lie about, doesn't it? When that girl asks why you don't wanna go out with her, do you tell her that she is annoying as hell and not really that cute? Or do you lie and tell her that you feel you're both in "different" places? When you say something mean to someone at work and later on tell that person you were "just having a bad day and venting" (Which is a lie.), doesn't that make the person feel better? When your girlfriend asks you if you think she is a *****, do you really think she wants to hear the truth that Yes, she is a total *****?

I think that a world without lies would be a harsh and cruel world. Because although a lie can cause pain, that hurt is nothing when compared to the brutal pain of truth.

I don't think she ever stated "I'm perfect" Moto. She just opened a topic for discussion and for pondering, there's no need to get offensive really.

I said lie as in something like calling into work sick without being sick lying. I freely admit that I put on a facade for the world for the reasons I already explained. You obviously didn't read enough into my post. But okay!
