Quick Mask Mode - Help.

Coloring a B&W photo.

I followed the steps in this link a few weeks back and it worked exactly as advertised: http://www.absolutecross.com/tutorials/photoshop/photos/colorizing/

Now when I try to do so, I (apparently) ernter QM, color the area(s) I want. I then press Q to return to Standard Mode and I get no marching ants and the only way I can see my Artistic endeavor is to press Q again and there it is.

If I save the doc and reopen I don't have any colors. In the meantime, I'm using Black and White Magic, but it has limitations and I'd like to use CS2.

BTW: I tried this is PS7 and CS2 before and it worked just fine. Now, not. I also tried 10 different photos with the same result.

Can anyone assist please?

You have to go into quick mask mode, re-brush the areas, then get out of quick mask mode. You could save the selection too so you don't have to redo it every time.

I'm not sure what you mean by "QM - Rebrush - QM"? At every attempt to try to save selection, the option is gayed out.

I'm not sure what you mean by "gayed out" but you need a selection (those marching ants that you were talking about) in the file before you can use the option (Select > Save Selection). If you need to bring up the selection again, just load it (Select > Load Selection).

Hm... and opening the document gives no color? Try checking to see if the color mode didn't change on you (go to Image > Mode > and pick RGB or CMYK (or whatever you want)). Grayscale is black and white.
