What do you guys think? I simply sat down and thought of the most simple layout I could make, that would still be somewhat attractive. My favorite parts are the menu and footer links.

There's minimalism and then there's lazyness. You've crossed that line.

How is this design "lazy"? And who the hell are you to call my work "lazy"?

First thing I thought of, from The Zen of CSS Design:
The title of Not So Minimal raises the question, not as minimal as what? There is a history behind this design: Dan Rubin's first submission to the Zen Garden was created with a goal of maximum simplicity... While recognizing the importance of good minimal design work, the Zen Garden was aiming to overcome the stigma of minimalism ... Rubin developed it further with extra graphical embellishments, and it became Not So Minimal.
It's ugly. Boring. Nothing attractive about it. You know all these things. All I can add is that I hit this about three or four years ago when I first got burnt out on the web design thing. I took a break, got outside and away from it and found another hobby for a couple months.
May your hiatus be brief?

It's black and white rectangles with text. Uninspired and no effort required. You are the one who asked for reviews, I gave you mine. You can't honestly be proud of this "design."

Minimalism doesn't mean that things can't look "spiffy". Your choice (and use) of color is, quite frankly, boring. I think you have slightly misunderstood the term minimalism. There is no rule that says minimalism can't be elegant.
The typography is horrid. The menu and footertext is way too small. As is the bodytext.
Play around with it some more. Try new colors, or play around with the existing ones.
The design doesn't really give the impression that it is well thought-out. Give it some more work.

Well thank you, that's very well said. However...
A school of abstract painting and sculpture that emphasizes extreme simplification of form, as by the use of basic shapes and monochromatic palettes of primary colors, objectivity, and anonymity of style. Also called ABC art, minimal art; Also called reductivism, rejective art.

I think you could use some more space, i find the text too close to the border, and maybe squeezing the "block" together, I think the text is a little long and not very easy to read.
And maybe you should brighten up the background a little, I don't know.. just my thoughts.

yeha but there is a difference between that and what youve done, what you have just done is just boring. No offence, but it is. You can use extreme simplification using basic shapes and monochromatic palettes and get much better results than what you've done there..

So what do you think of http://neave.com/? It's just a white background with black text...
