Adware?

All of the sudden, I'm getting popups in Firefox. If I don't have Firefox opened, it will open itself and different websites will appear. If it is open, it will open a new tab.

I ran a spyware detector, but there were no problems...is it adware and is there anyway to get rid of it? Huh?!

spyware detector sonds like psoyware itself to me. Ok the tools you need are Lavasoft Adaware, spybot search and destroy. These can be found at http://www.download.com
If this doesnt fix your problem boot up in safe mode and scan in there. ( I presume your using windows). If that is still not workign you need to go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com

You could always give Windows Defender a shot. Cool

Windows defender is an ok program but lacks some detection of majour spyware. The only thing its ever found for me is adware.

Didn't that used to pick up Firefox as a "potential threat" ? Tongue

I think so, but I'm pretty sure that's fixed now. Tongue

http://www.spybot.info/ is a great program to use for spyware.

From what I have read, adwares alogorithms apparently suck.

Thank you all!

I've actually used Spybot Search & Destroy before and relied upon it for this, but it didn't find much...

However, Lavasoft found pretty much everything and got rid of pretty much everything and now the problem is solved! <3

Thanks again! Grin
