I know something simple like this could be done faster by hand but can you see the potential?

not yet, but I have been learning Ruby since middle of last week and so far this stuff is very straight forward and has quickly become my favorite language to learn... I can't wait to take the next step and add on the Rails framework.

I know, which is why I am actually excited to learn the language and framework... I mean I am breezing through the language of Ruby moreso than I did PHP or anything else...

I have read the articles about the Rails framework and how much easier that makes everything and I can't wait to start using it.
