Vegans are massive idiots, their lifestyle consisits of eating **** and even then feeling bad about it. I recommend a vegetarian diet, rich in vegatables with helpings of dairy. Trust me if you go vegan your fucked.

Did you actually read the fucking article though?
The best of these clinical studies isolated the effects of diet by keeping exercise constant. The researchers found that a low-fat vegan diet leads to weight loss of about 1 pound per week, even without additional exercise or limits on portion sizes, calories, or carbohydrates.
"There is evidence that a vegan diet causes an increased calorie burn after meals, meaning plant-based foods are being used more efficiently as fuel for the body, as opposed to being stored as fat," says Dr. Barnard. Insulin sensitivity is increased by a vegan diet, allowing nutrients to more rapidly enter the cells of the body to be converted to heat rather than to fat.
... found that meat-eaters who switched to a plant-based diet gained less weight over a period of five years.
...and why does everyone bring up the cutting thing? i'm not even emo.

damn guys it's just a diet. the weird thing i've been facing everynight is my uncontrolable urge for chocolate. I dunno where it is coming from but it's weird. I'm not making excuses for not excersizing but I have 2 jobs and school so any free time i do get i damn sure don't want to be excersizing. going all vegi also seems a little extreme.
mon: 5-8 30(class)
tues: 5-8 30(class), 8 30-4am(work)
wens: 5-8 30(class), 8 30-4am(work)
thurs: 12-5(work), 5-8(class)
fri: 2-11(work)
sat: 2-11(work)
sun: 12-9(work)
obviously I have some spare time in between but my schedule is so erratic all week that it's hard for me to get a set work-out routine.

I'd rather cut my life short a decade or two via heart disease than suffer the self-inflicted humilitation of eating nothing but plants all my life. I can somewhat understand a vegetarian diet, but going vegan is only for hippies and pansies. Meat certainly isn't bad for you. Let's say you consumed it only on holidays, how would that harm your health? But, you have to act like you're some kind of a crusader out to save animals and the world. If you did a little research from the other side or unbiased sources, you'd find vegetarians are mostly hypocrites anyway. For example, do you have any idea how many field rodents are crushed every year by the combines used to harvest the wheat and vegetables you eat? Tons! Maddox wrote a great article about this. Check it out if you want an enlightening read on the topic.

hi, i would like to give my opinion on this topic.
about last year during sept-nov. i lost about 20-25 pounds, weighing from up to around high 170s to about low 150s. How did i do it? My diet before i started it was about 3 medium-large meals a day, eating unheathily, processed foods, etc. When i started, i started eating 5 smaller meals a day ( notice how i ate more frequently, starving yourself is very very BAD ). In addition to eating 5 meals a day rather than 3, i ate more nutritious and more healthy, i actually cut off all forms of fast food, sodas, processed foods. Anything "processed" comes in a bag or shrink wrapped, and the ingredients list contains some stuff you would see regularly in your high school chemistry book. I ate things from carbs, proteins, fats, fibers: the important thing to remember is that you need all of it, if you cut out all carbs and/or all fats, you are really messing up your body.
Anyway, that's the type of diet that i went on for around 2-3 months, doing a full-body workout twice a week and a sprint workout once a week, which means i only did a FORM of exercise 3 times a week.
I think that the most important thing to weight loss is diet + exercise, as well as consistency, you MUST stay consistent if you want the fat off and stay off.
Today, i weigh a healthy 149 pounds, and it seems that my metabolism has gotten faster - i can eat many things ( fast foods, processed foods, etc ) and not gain weight.
One single book helped me get through this and i highly recommend it to any man looking to lose weight and gain some muscle: Mens Health: Ultimate Abs 2005. The book IS for abs, but it also has many tips on dieting, what foods to eat, tips and tricks, etc. It also has a good workout plan that i specifically followed and mainained to get to where i am today.
Good luck and i hope that you can keep lose that weight.
