Dual display issues

I just hooked up a second monitor and ever since I've been having issues: when certain media rendering and buffering goes down my monitors start to flicker on and off and my whole system starts lagging down. This happens mainly in video games, the same games I played before I got the new setup and worked fine. I run an ATI radeon X700. The chip is secure, my monitor jacks are secure. My OS is Windows XP Home SP2.

Please offer some insight.

Sounds like it could be driver issues, not being a dual display user, there's not alot I can say apart from make sure you've got the latest versions, oh, and try a different media player to see if it makes a difference.

I would say check drivers as well. Can't think of a good reason why any of that would be happening unless you're having overlay issues, and that sounds like a driver. Always that off-chance you have a bad card too.

Is the card new, or just the second display?

The monitor is a year or 2 old...my vid card is really new. I checked my drivers and they report that they are up to date.

Try going online and seeing on the manufacturers website if they are up to date.

Yea I manually downloaded the most up to date drivers...even tried disabling the second monitor...no dice.

Could be that the card itself is faulty then, or just not powerful enough to handle 2 monitors.

Can sometimes have something to do with your motherboard?

<offtopic> Unclejemima, if you are going to play those games - mind looking at your own sig? Two wrongs don't make a right as your sig also breaks the rules, being 60px tall and all.
