You seem to be forgetting about the continuation of inbreeding.

eg. If someone has some kids with their cousin, they might turn out fine. But what if those kids have kids with their cousins?

I think that the association with "incest" has somethign to do with our genetics. Like veirstein said, we are naturally driven to mate with other humans that dont have a similar genetic code. It's basic survival of a species.

I'm not sure if these people who partake in "incest" are doing it because their bodies don't know the difference, or of some other reason, but i think that yes, it is wrong. Not because of a socio-backed reason, but because it just doesn't make any sense, both morally and biologically.

I was told by a friend who studies biology that mutations are more likely to occur when both parents have similar genetics. Basically it reduces the gene pool. But if u're bloody related that just wrong!

Like another person said, you don't have any control over who you're attracted to. Personally, I could care less if people "do" their family members, it doesn't much effect me. The only problem I see with it is that there is a slight chance of deformed offspring. It would be quite unfair to be born with no legs all because your dad and your aunt couldn't keep their hands off each other.

some people just get turned on by doing things that are "wrong" in a sense. like cheating, having sex in public places and I guess some people might want to take it even further and have sex with a cousin. (by wrong I mean "socially") also if I went to italy and visited some relatives I never met before and found out I had this gorgous hottie as a cousin then I'd probably have sex with her. it's simply for the fact that I wouldn't veiw her as a family member but just as some hot girl I will probably never see again.

i thought it wasn't a slight chance, it was failry subsantial from what i remember. also it sets moral dilemeas for the children, especally if it continues.

apparenlty theres also a fairly good chance of healthy offspring with natrual immunity to many diseases, if people breed out of their race. which is probably why incest has been taboo since the dawn of time.

There are different kinds of love. The love you have for brother or sister is SUPPOSED to be different than the love you have for a mate. But its primal I guess. I think its wrong to know the effects and still disregard the welfare of any offspring.

I have a friend who dated this girl for over a year. When his mom and dad got a divorce approximately a year after they broke up, his dad started dating that girls mother. My friend was incredibly grossed out about it because its his ex-girlfriends mom.

I think its about morals, standards. "You don't **** in your own backyard" kind of thing.
