iPod 30gb Video
I know this has probably already been discussed but I'll ask anyways...
What type of video is supported by the iPod?
I think I read that it was only .mov format and that the only program that can convert to .mov is quicktime pro? Is that correct?
Also, are there any rumors of 30gb iPod prices dropping? Or a new iPod comming out?
Don't want to have a repeat of my iPod 1st gen mini purchase (price dropped not loong afterwards and then like 3 months after the purchase, 2nd gen minis came out...)
Cheers!!

iPod video supports .mov files and M4V files. M4V is an iPod-specific format (uses MPEG-4 codec), and is very compressed once converted (unlike mov). Here's a tutorial on how to convert avi to iPod-format. It's extremely simple, and works great.
My 170MB Family Guy Episodes are compressed to 40-60 MB in M4V, and still have great quality.

It supports mp4 as well. You can use ImTOO MPEG Encoder to convert almost any files to mp4.

You can never really predict what Apple is going to release when. There is a Macworld expo in mid January, but Im sure nothing new will come out then. I dont even know if Jobs is speaking there.
Considering the current generation of iPods is only a few months old, I dont think there will be any changes to the lineup for a while. If anything, they might add a larger HD, but i wouldnt expect that until summer.
