To be perfectly honest, it's not IRC ownage, it's just someone not knowing what certain commands do.
It's on par with telling people "Alt-f4/alt-q brings up a special options box/menu".
Been there, seen it done, look for bash.org for actual entertainment with IRC.

the ownage part wasnt that he didnt know about.
He knew about, but he didnt think twice about joining that channel.

the ownage is that he said he would join any channel someone said, and his actions got him "owned"
