One of the MOST ignorant sentences I've ever read. Pollution, in some and most areas, is a real problem. I'm not even a environmentalist, but I know that pollution can/does affect people and wildlife too. Diseases and birth defects become rampant in areas where pollution is bad.

Unless you are going to bring your car up to 10-15 million degrees Celsius, a tank of hydrogen will not undergo fusion and unless you mix hydrogen and oxygen, it can't explode...

Also, don't worry about the tanks breaking. I am quite addicted to paintball, so I have a lot of time logged around these carbon fiber wrapped tanks. People do some crazy things to their tanks and they still pass hydro... The tanks can handle pressures way above their ratings. Most tanks are made of a metal tank wrapped in carbon fiber, then covered by a plastic coating. As far as I know, that is what they would use in cars... Very safe...

For a hydrogen car, very large amounts of hydrogen are needed in order to get a decent range, and both the size and pressure of the tank needs to be much larger than paintball tanks. So there might be some safety concerns. It's probable that hydrogen is safer than gasoline anyway, considering for instance if the tank is punctured the hydrogen will dissipate very quickly and have very little chance to explode from a spark. In solid state hydrogen storage, where hydrogen is stored in a solid compound, safety is even better, since there are no high pressures involved.

there you go. it's flawless... the only problem is the people like me who just cant get enoguh of the smell of fresh gasoline. :D

I just wish environmentalists would stop hurting americans by stopping building of refineries.

So theres a ton of oil in Alaska, we all know that, and we could build a small refinery(2 miles by 2 miles maybe?) and get a bunch of it. Add in a nice pipeline and we've got a fresh new supply of oil. Why can't we do this? Environmentalists don't want it and thats bullshit.

They didn't want the current alaskan pipeline either because it would hurt the Caribu(I hope im spelling that right) and guess what, it hasn't hurt their population and they actually like the warmth of it.

If other chemicals were used instead of gasoline, like hydrogen, it'd be just as dangerous as current "gas" powered cars... so the dangers, while they may be different, still dont come close to gasoline...
