Snowboard shop
HI!!
This is my first entry to this forum (YAY!!
I'm designing a website for a snowboard shop, and want You to tell me what do You think about it, i would also appreciate any suggestions to it.
There will be added a menu bar under the title and a footer and any good things that You suggest
The site is in Polish so let me explain a few things:
under the word 'kategorie' are the links to the categorys of the shop
'koszyk' is the sopping cart (a small view of it)
and under 'sklep' are the address information. Thats about it.
here's the link to the jpg file: http://www.elektra.weia.po.opole.pl/~d23084/shop_layout_basis.jpg

It's busy busy busy.
Too much going on, too many shapes colors and text all over each other.
The transparent shadows won't work proper in IE, they use 24-bit .png transparency.
Needs some work.

Interesting. I have to say I've seen that look in your sidebars before, I just can't place my finger on where.

I don't know. Because I made it myself, and never intended to get a look like someone else has...

I wasn't accusing of ripping or anything...considering how many millions of websites there are out there, it's inevitable that you come across some that unintentionally look similar. I was just commenting that it looked familiar somehow.

My bad - I misunderstood You. Like You said it's hard to come out with a totaly original design...
I would appreciate any suggestions, comments, about the new design.

The idea is to look to others who are better that you for inspiration and use their (valueable) talent to jumpstart or fuel your own creativity. Whatever comes out is not considered ripping if you truely are using other people's designs for inspiration to build something for yourself.
I would suggest getting a hold of what certain standards are out there for web design and layout (font types/ spacing/ colors/ photoshop'ed effects/ etc.), by browsing some professional corporate sites, like corporate sites, or web design firm sites, and then see what elements you could change in your own design.
The only way you are really going to get better is if you just keep working and pushing yourself. I find that for each new project I take on I progress incredibly. Maybe you ought to try tearing down the whole thing from time to time and redesigning from scratch (providing you have the time). Just my two cents.
