Wi-Fi iPod?
Not only does the title contain too many I's for one's taste, but this idea seems a bit stale and ahead of itself. An iPod with Wi-Fi capabilities? How much would that cost? Would anyone fork the money for this extra feature (if Apple does follow through, this is completely speculation)?
I wouldn't. I think its a pretty pointless solution to a small gap in the bridge with Apple's Airport Express. Not only would this raise some issues about hacking. I believe they would call it iRipping (hacking into an iPod to steal the contents).

How could you possibly benefit from being able to go online with your iPod?

Why not?
Being able to browse NS or Slashdot while listening to tunes in the middle of class sounds like fun.

No it doesn't. I can imagine WiFi being a cool feature to have with the iPod being able to connect to your songs and so forth and 'stream' them. As for browsing, no thanks.

What? I want my iPod to frickin play music and only that. I have a computer for Web browsing, and a cell phone for making calls.

Wifi would be cool, it has much potential. Streaming music from/to your network alone is great along with a replacement to Airport Express. Maybe they can do something where you can play music from nearby ipods like a pseudo radio? Let them figure it out
. I don't think they will raise the price, It'll just be an extra feature for the next ipod. They need to keep improving the ipod so it becomes harder for the competition to well... compete. So, wifi is a logical next step.

A WiFi iPod would probably just be able to wireless update you iPod, stream music to the network, and possibly play music from someone's shared music library.
Things like web browsing are, imo a bad idea to put on the iPod. It might be cool to be able to share playlists with other iPods, but it would require too my reading for the HD, so it wouldn't work unless it was a flash baed HD.
