Ibook and Ram
Hey I was going to get me a new ibook for college. Was looking at getting it upgraded to 1GB of memory/ram. It costs 94 quid to get it upgraded from apple. So I was wondering if anyone knew if it was
a) hard to add a 512 stick of ram to an apple laptop
and
b) Would I be able to do it. Never worked with laptop's b4 only PC building!

I have a new iBook with 512 MB of RAM. I obviously haven't added more, but the procedure to do it yourself seems very simple. Take of the keyboard by pulling back 2 little tabs, unscrew a little compartment, and put the RAM in. Simple as that. The Apple RAM is waaay to expensive, in my opinion.

yeah thats true plus the fact it isn't even anything special just normal ram. Was going to go for the 1.33 512mb 40GB combo drive 12". Depending on found I might go for the 14"

I have the 12" and it's very portable. If you're planning on using it to take notes and stuff for school I'd go with the 12". I would suggest maybe bumping your hard drive to 60GB though. OSX and its applications eat up a ton of space on the drive.

Yeah Im getting it for my Visual Communication course so it will hopefully be running the likes of photoshop, dreamweaver etc... Thats why I was looking at getting a 1GB of ram and possibly with the suggestion the 60GB HD maybe!

I agree with steelphantom, I upgraded a 12" maybe a year ago and it was extremely simple. You shouldn't have any problems.
