Initially I was going to boycott the movie, when it was first announced, people were dropping Paul Anderson's name as a potential director. Nothing personal, oh wait, it is, he turns every movie he touches into a scooby doo theme park ride through a sewer full of unwanted orphans, his movies are less tasty than the tripe he pulls out of his butt to help augment his intelligence when in the director's chair.
But now I see they got Andrzej Bartkowiak. Granted his career has been rather hit and miss, but I liked Devils Advocate and a couple of his 80s films. I just might have to go see this movie.

I'll probably see it out of curiosity, but I hope they don't make it a potboiler like most game- or book-based movies are, e.g. Resident Evil, which was a good game (or series thereof) but a horrible movie. I didn't really like the Doom game, but I'm really attracted to horror films.

FYI, Resident Evil was directed by Paul Anderson.
I rest my case.

and Mila Jovinch (whatever) was his girlfriend. Hence why ALICE is like 'OMG' in the movie.

I dont like the First Person View in most of the scenes, but they kept to the basic monster designs and such. The Rock as Sarge...wasnt expected though, I would have liked someone with military movie background just as big.

i'm just glad they didn't use arnold...
RE1 wasn't so bad considering it wasn't anything like the first game.
the only part in RE2 that got me amped was at the end when alice got some super powers and killed that guy through the tv.
i'll say this movie will probably be better than house of the dead...but not by much.
I start a petition to stop ruining these survival-horror games now!

I'll probably end up watching it - but I just can't imagine Doom translating into a very good film.
Plus, 8-10 minutes of FPS view? Bleh. Hopefully it'll surprise me.
