Creating paint splatter...

I've seen it on a lot of the trend-whorish sites that have the splatter paint effect. I've tried a lot different techniques with layer blends and still can't figure it out. Can somebody point me in the right direction like to a tutorial? I want to use this effect in some print media.

Examples?

Probably done with brushes, if I know what you're talking about.

You may want to do a search for Photoshop Grunge Brushes. There are plenty of brushes that give off the effect you are after.
