i don't see why you're all getting worked up about it, i say it's about time. if you're under 18 and you want to play a violent game go get your parents to buy it for you.
Unfortunetly alot of parents wouldn't buy it for their kids cause the media says it's a bad idea. People take the media too seriously, that's what's wrong with this world.

wouldn't that be great. unfournately a lot of parents don't check carefully enough what their kids play and watch, there's actually not enough control, not as you suggest, too little.

So... would selling porn videos in Walmart to 10 year olds also be unconstitutional?

That´s a different matter. I´m pretty sure that you too would not want your 10-year old son looking at pornography. That's pretty much an ethical debate, in my opinion.

Playing Mortal Kombat doesn't mean you turn into a murderer and rape people. All this stuff about playing games is bad for you is so stupid.

My position in a nutshell... (Yes I wrote it lol)
My main problem with this bill is that it's WAY to broad and isn't very descriptive; spouts out analyzing stupid claims, and cuts it off at 18, why not something more like what we have in the movie industry? Or even out (fix) the ESRB and enforce the damn thing...

Guys.. some of you need to read a bit more about this. What this bill intends to do is pretty much already in place in the form of the ESRB. It won't change a whole lot. No need to get your panties in a knot about censorship, that isn't what this is.
Its like how you cant go to a rated R movie until you're 17. Or you can't buy tobacco until you're 18.. or you can't buy Alcohol until youre 21. This bill will just make it so you can't buy a rated M game unil you are 18. No big deal.

It'll never pass. Why? Because it's the fault of the idiot parents that this is an issue to begin with. I can look at a video game case from roughly 25 feet away and immediately locate the rating on both front and back. So why can't a parent do that from arm's length? What is so hard about telling your kid, "No. I will NOT buy you this game because the rating says it has 'Graphic Violence and Graphic Language' and quite frankly, I'd rather you didn't participate in those activities at your age." Yes, I'm calling the parents to task on this one. If you let your kid have GTA just because he said, "NO, Mom! This game is SOOO cool!" without looking at the rating, you are an idiot and I cannot respect anything you have to say on this matter.
I can understand where the idea is coming from, though. The whole, 'let's not sell violent games to fifth graders' idea is great, but when is the last time it's actually been enforced? Another thing--retailers need to learn to bite the fucking bullet and refund games that intelligent parents try to bring back when they DO see what subject matter is contained. I've seen this numerous times. parents give their kids $50 and say, "Go get ONE game." Kid brings back GTA, and parent sees it and tried to return it oinly to be turned away because of the whole, you opened it, it's garbage' thing.
I'm gonna stop this here. Ranting isn't my style.
