"Times" font...

Sorry guys if this is the wrong area, I seriously had no idea where else to put it (last I was here in tutorialforums people asked about fonts here)

I've been trying to look for the "Times" font but I've had no luck, does anyone seem to know where to find this font? I've spent a very long time on google and alot of sites want money for the logo, now I'm not trying to rip off the original author but I'm sure it came with the older operating systems, unfortunatley I only have XP on all my machines, and usually those websites selling it are a rip-off trying to make money (ie. you see the same logo on a free font webiste)

Times New Roman, is that the one, it's a default of what ever version of Windows you have and is normally installed during setup. Try looking on your version disc in the MSFonts folder.
To install any of those fonts, have the disc in the drive, go to Start>settings>Control Panel, double click on the Font folder, on the menu select File>install fonts, when the window pops up, browse to the disc folder and it will load all the fonts, click on Select all, make sure there is a checkmark at the bottom for 'Copy fonts to font folder', click ok. If a font has already being installed a window will pop up telling you to uninstall befroe reinstall, just click ok, and it will continue. When it's done it will close automatically. Close the control panel, and just to be sure it's there, open notepad, select Edit>Set Font, and scroll down till you see it. It will now be available in everything that requires fonts.

That's it.

its similar to times new roman, but its actually times or times roman, it has a different serif, thanks for the try though :D
