Two poster designs for a student play

Hey hey :)

So I'm designing stuff for incompetent people again (no, that's not fair, it's only one of them that's incompetent, but unfortunately he's in charge...).

This is at 12.5% of my working doc size. It'll be printed on A3, full colour obviously.
My task was to make it 'modern, light, and include the oxford landscape in some way'. I'm quite proud of it, the skyline took forever.
There should be two or three more logos, and I should have been supplied with a hi-res version of that horrible one in the corner. But I don't have them. Tsk tsk. So please ignore that side, it'll improve when I get all the files.
Apart from those logos, does anyone have any ideas for improvement?

Secondly, there'll be a 'teaser' poster, which'll be up before the main one. I was told to keep the same design but make it 'sepia and washed out'. I don't entirely see the point but what the hell, I'm only the webmonkey.

This poster will only contain the two logos which are already on it. I'm not entirely sure where to put them, bah. Any comments on this one?

Well, those logo's are pretty fugly, but not much you can change there.

I like the design alot, however the "By William...." text would look better if centered. I know that way it'll overlap the tower, so just place it right below the second "Measure".

I would suggest, for the horrible logo, that you give it a background in the rectangle it's in - just a color like the other one has, since it will make it look (a little) better, but mainly it will make it so that it's readable in the teaser one as well. Also, I don't understand what "Group discount call?0186 529 7170" really means... shouldn't it be "Group discount? call: 0186..." or "Group discount - call: 0186..." or something like that... and definitely, like rabbit said - centre the text. Other than that, it's pretty well done. Too bad about the logos.

Rabbitlab covered basically everything, but I love the colors in both pieces, it stands out and easy on the eyes. On the bottom (First Piece) I'm not too fond of that font, maybe change that? Other than that, Good job. :)

I should get better versions of the logos (they're certainly not printing the way they are :P)

and the ? is because the phone number is provisional, and I don't want the people I'm doing this for forgetting to give me the actual one just because I've put a convincing one up ;)

I will centre the text, didn't think anyone but me would notice that it's slightly off heheh. Thanks for warning me. (edit: now that I look at them with fresh eyes - woah is it obvious! heheh. I think I'll just move the tower a little.)

I think the main title would look better in a bigger size. It might be better for it to be visible from a larger distance.

Logos will be rearranged once I've got the damn files (and the question mark will be removed when they tell me which phone number we're using), but apart from that, d'you think I can count these finished?

Yes. I would consider these done -- I'd say you've already delivered on this contract; if they want more it's time for a new fee...

I love the background on those, nice job. It is both modern and antiquated, as I'm sure you wanted. Do the logos need to be that big? They are ruining a good poster :(

no. move the text "By William Shakespeare" up. might make a little tinier, but be sure to move it up. it's too far from the top text, and looks awkward. just try it, and see if you like it. i think you will.
