PSP7 -vs- PSP9

I'm sorry, but PSP9 is the most rescource hungry application ever. Takes well more than 30 seconds to open, and once it is, the interface is slow and it handles like a Rover Metro.

PSP7 on the other hand, rarely uses more than 8MB of RAM, opens in less than 2 seconds, is light and gets the job done simply and effortlessly.

I recently bought PSP9 (as ive been using v7 for nearly 4 years now and decided I needed an upgrade) and im truly sorry I bought it.

What are your views?

There is only one feature I prefer, and that is that you can set stroke weight (which I can do manually in PSP7 anyway, so no biggy).

yes it's a heavy load. Like Adobe, everything loads up now. Since psp7, psp8 & 9 now have python incorperated which enables you to create scripts of any actions you do thus making tasks easier. v9 also comes with Art Media Tools for mixing colors which is great for tablet users. I dont think it will get any lighter in the future. I havent heard of Corel making any changes to it as of yet.

If you have any issues or questions with it, head on over to the PSPUG. http://pspug.org/

They might have some solutions for you.

Happy PSPing

Although I've never used PSP (photoshop ftw), I guess this looks like a trade off between features, and ram use. More features = more ram use.

Or at least thats what the situation looks like to me.

psp7 for quick and misc graphic use photoshop for all real detail/editiing and gfx making corel bought psp and released all the version 8+ so that's why they seem really different pspX will probably be crap also i like 7 for the fast boot to do some quick work :] but look into photoshop much nicer and even better if you get a bunch of brushes and other mods :]

7 is alot lighter but it doesnt have scripting which v8 & up has. Also the downfall for psp10 is that it will only be for win 2000 & xp, anyone who doesnt use these os's cant use psp10 so they just cut their users in half. too bad. Corel bought it after v9 by the way but are supporting v8 & up.

I doubt it. The least it will do is consume more system resources.

you are right malephika. 10 is worse on loading then 9. you'd think with everyone complaining about the load they would try to resolve it but they didnt. Several users have already complained about it crashing their systems and alot wont even touch it.

PSP 9 has a lot of improvements that make the extra resources worth it. Specifically, it has much better font support and much more font options. Plus a few new plugins that allow it to do a lot of PS only stuff (like Radial Blur).
