rotating mouse arrow

Is there any way to create a mouse arrow that points in the direction you're moving it? For an example, when you move it left it points left, when you move right it points right, etc. AND can it be done so that the arrow rotates smoothly, rather than just jerking around. I saw the tutorial on kirupa.com about identifying the direction that the arrow moves and i just became curious...
